Nachtwey's Mission
Photographer James Nachtwey has made it a personal mission to help end a new strain of drug resistant Tuberculosis, XDR-TB. Take a look and allow yourself to feel what they are talking about. This is an interesting use of fine photojournalism and social networking principals in an effort to do some thing good for mankind. See Nachtwey lecture below. (You can help.XDR-TB. org)

Blind Photogrpahers in Tel Aviv
I once photographed a blind photographer. He taught photography to people whose vision was impaired. As with most blind people he was partially sighted but only in the corner of one eye and very near-sighted. After learning to make photographs he was able to examine scenes in photos, holding the prints up close to his eye. where he had vision.
This is an example of photographs aiding in seeing/ vision.

Luces de Raiz Negra
Mexicans and Colombians of African Descent. Photos by Manuel González de la Parra. An engaging set of portraits and candids of Afro Mexicanos y Afro Colombianos. These "maroons" have been subsumed by the Latin Myth that People of African, Indian and Afro-Indian descent don't exist in their world.
